Short version: you can buy Freshworks direct, through a reseller, or through an implementation partner, and the licence has the same list price on every route. Freshworks sets the price of Freshdesk, Freshsales and the rest of the suite, and a partner sells it at the price you would see on the website. So the decision has little to do with money. It is about who configures the thing, who moves your data, who trains the team, and whose number is on the whiteboard when something breaks on a Monday morning.
Red Lotus is an authorized Freshworks partner, so read the recommendation below knowing that. I have tried to be fair to the other two routes, because for some teams they are the right call.
Buying direct
Buying direct means going to freshworks.com, starting a trial, picking a plan and entering a card. Larger accounts usually go through a Freshworks account executive, who sends a quote and a contract. Either way, the relationship is between you and Freshworks.
Support comes from Freshworks' own channels: the help centre, the ticket you open with them, and whatever support level your plan includes. Configuration is on you. Freshworks ships good documentation and the product is easier to set up than most, so a small team with a simple flow can be running in an afternoon.
What you don't get is someone who knows your operation. The support agent on the other side will answer the question you asked, which is not always the question you should have asked.
Buying through a reseller
A reseller is a company Freshworks authorizes to sell its licences. Same product, same plans, same list price. What changes is the commercial side: the reseller invoices you, in your country, in your currency, and holds the contract with Freshworks on your behalf.
In Brazil that is not a small thing. A nota fiscal in reais from a Brazilian company goes through procurement the normal way. An invoice in dollars from a company abroad means registering a foreign supplier, paying with an international card or a wire, and having the IOF conversation with finance. Plenty of companies choose a reseller for that reason alone.
A reseller is not necessarily an implementer. Some resellers only sell. If you go this route, ask what happens after the invoice. If the answer is "then you configure it", you are buying direct with a local invoice, which may be exactly what you want.
Buying through an implementation partner
An implementation partner does the work between the signed contract and the day the team logs in for real. That covers configuring the workspace, migrating whatever history you have, connecting the other systems, training the agents and staying on call for the first weeks in production, when the flow you designed meets the customers you actually have.
In practice an authorized partner often does both: it resells the licence and implements it. That is how Red Lotus works. You get the local invoice and the project from the same company, and one place to call for both.
What an official Freshworks partner actually does
Freshworks issues badges to its partners by tier, renewed every year. Red Lotus holds three for 2026.
Authorized Reseller. The company is cleared to sell Freshworks licences and invoice for them. This is the badge that makes the local nota fiscal possible.
Sales Consultant. The company is trained on the product line and can advise on which product and plan fit a given operation, and size the licence count accordingly. It is the badge behind the "which plan do I need" conversation.
Services Partner. The company is certified to implement: configuration, migration, integration and training. This is the badge that matters once the contract is signed.
Day to day, the work looks like this.
- Plan choice. Growth, Pro or Enterprise, and which features you would actually use. I wrote a separate guide on which Freshdesk Omni plan to choose.
- Configuration. Groups, SLAs, business hours, automations, the portal, the email routing. This is where most direct buyers stall.
- Migration. Tickets, contacts and companies out of Zendesk, Movidesk or a spreadsheet and into Freshworks, with the history intact. There is a migration guide on this blog for the long version.
- Integrations. ERP, WhatsApp, telephony, whatever your team already lives in.
- Training. For the agents and for the admin who will own the workspace after we leave, in Portuguese, English or Spanish.
- After go-live. The first weeks in production always surface something the design missed. Someone has to be there for that.
Two things a good partner brings that are hard to buy separately. The first is a sandbox-first rollout: on the plans that include a sandbox we build and test there, and only then promote to production, so nobody discovers a broken automation with customers on the line. The second is a person who has seen your problem before. Most of what goes wrong in a Freshworks rollout has already gone wrong in someone else's rollout, and knowing that saves weeks.
Partner, reseller or direct: side by side
| Direct | Reseller | Implementation partner | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Licence price | List price | Same list price | Same list price |
| Who invoices you | Freshworks, from abroad, in dollars | The reseller, locally, in your currency | The partner, locally, in your currency |
| Implementation | You | Usually you; depends on the reseller | The partner, as a scoped project |
| Data migration | You, with Freshworks' import tools | Usually you | Planned, tested and run by the partner |
| Training in your language | Freshworks' material, mostly in English | Depends on the reseller | Yes, for agents and admins |
| Who you call when it breaks | Freshworks support | Freshworks support; the reseller for billing | The partner first, Freshworks support behind them |
| Best for | Small teams with a simple setup | Teams that need a local invoice and can configure on their own | Migrations, integrations, larger teams |
About the Freshworks partner program
The partner program is how Freshworks works with companies that sell and implement its products. Partners are authorized by tier, each tier carries a badge, and the badges are renewed each year, so a badge from three years ago says nothing about today.
If you want to check that a partner is real, ask to see the current year's badges and check whether the company is listed in Freshworks' partner directory. A partner that hesitates on either question is telling you something.
If you run a company and want to become a partner yourself, the place to start is the Freshworks partner page. The terms are theirs to explain, not mine.
When to choose which
Two people on Growth, no integrations, email and chat only. Buy direct. You will be running within the hour, and a partner would mostly be in your way.
Your finance team needs a local invoice in reais, and your ops team is comfortable configuring a SaaS tool on its own. A reseller solves the invoice and leaves the rest with you. Just confirm who you call when the invoice question turns into a product question.
You are migrating four years of ticket history, the ERP has to talk to the helpdesk, and there are dozens of agents across three teams who all need to be trained before the cutover date. That is an implementation project, and an implementation partner is who runs projects. Buying direct here means hiring the same expertise later, under more pressure.
If you are reading this in Brazil and the project has any of the words migration, integration or ERP in it, talk to us. Red Lotus is a Freshworks implementation partner with an office in São Paulo, and the licence costs you the same either way. If your project has none of those words, buy direct, and come back when it does.
FAQ
Is it more expensive to buy Freshworks through a partner?
No. The licence has the same list price on every route. What a partner charges for is the implementation work, and that is quoted separately, as a project.
Can I switch from buying direct to a partner later?
Yes. A Freshworks account can be moved to a partner after the fact. We do it regularly. Your data, configuration and users stay exactly where they are. What changes is who invoices you and who you call.
Does a partner replace Freshworks support?
No. You keep Freshworks support as part of the licence. The partner sits in front of it. For anything about your setup, your data or your integrations, you call the partner. For a bug in the product, the partner escalates to Freshworks with you.
Does Red Lotus work with companies outside Brazil?
Yes. Implementations are remote and we work in Portuguese, English and Spanish. The office is in São Paulo, which mostly matters for the time zone and the nota fiscal.
